Procedure for admission

 

Polish citizens apply for admission in the manner specified in the conditions and principles set out in the resolution of the AMU Senate on recruitment for the first year of full-time and part-time studies, and are required to register on the Internet Recruitment System (System Internetowej Rekrutacji) as indicated in the recruitment schedule for a given academic year.

 

Foreign citizens apply for admission under the same rules as Polish citizens or under different rule to those applicable to Polish citizens.

Admission of foreign citizens under the same rules as Polish citizens 

The following groups can commence studies under the same rules as Polish citizens:

• foreign citizens who have been granted a permanent residence permit;

• foreign citizens with refugee status granted in the Republic of Poland;

• foreign citizens under temporary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland;

• migrant workers who are nationals of a European Union member state, the Swiss Confederation or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as well as their family members, provided that they live in the territory of the Republic of Poland;

• foreign citizens who have been granted a European Community long-term residence permit valid in the territory of the Republic of Poland;

• foreign citizens who have been granted a temporary residence permit in the territory of the Republic of Poland in connection with a circumstance referred to in Art. 127, Art. 159 section 1 or Art. 186, section 1 item 3 or 4 of the Act of December 12, 2013 on foreign citizens;

• foreign citizens who have been granted subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland;

• nationals of EU member states, the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area – or the Swiss Confederation and their family members, who have the right of permanent residence.

The holders of a valid Polish Charter (Karta Polaka) are eligible to study under the same rules as Polish citizens or under rules different to those applicable to Polish citizens.

 

Admission under different rules to those applicable to Polish citizens 

Foreign citizens who are not in one of the groups mentioned above are eligible to study under different rules to those applicable to Polish citizens on the basis of:

1.     International contracts;

2.     Contracts entered into by higher education institutions with foreign entities;

3.     The decision of the Minister of Higher Education or another relevant minister, as stipulated in Article 33, section 2;

4.     Decision of the University Rector

in the following capacities:

•         As holders of a Polish scholarship

•         As tuition payers;

•         As non-paying students who do not get scholarships

•         As scholarship holders of the sending side who do not pay tuition fees

•         As holders of scholarships granted by a given higher education institution
