Study Trip of Polish Studies Students
Students of the Polish Studies programme, together with Dr Konrad Walerski from the European University Viadrina, visited the Berlin branch of the Witold Pilecki Institute of Solidarity and Valor.
The study visit was held as part of the seminar ,,Studentisches Ausstellungsprojekt - Das Jahr 1945 und die neue Ordnung in Polen und Deutschland”, which will culminate in an original student-curated exhibition devoted to the pivotal year 1945 and the formation of the ,,new order” in Poland and Germany.
At the Institute, the students visited the permanent exhibition dedicated to the life and legacy of Witold Pilecki - a cavalry captain of the Polish Army, a volunteer inmate of Auschwitz, and the author of one of the earliest reports on the Holocaust, who later became a victim of communist repression. The exhibition made a profound impression on the students, both in terms of its scholarly content and its modern narrative and multimedia solutions.
