Dominik Pick
Dominik Pick is a historian and scholar of cultural studies, an Assistant Professor at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, and the Head of the Poland Studies programme. He earned his PhD at the Faculty of History of the University of Warsaw and at the Faculty of Cultural Studies of the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). He has held fellowships from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, the Goethe-Institut, the Deutsches Polen-Institut, and the Herder Institute.
He specialises in the history of Poland and Germany and in Polish–German relations in the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as in issues related to cultural transfer, transnationality, and the specificities of border regions. His research interests also include the didactics of history. He serves as the Academic Secretary of the Joint Polish–German Textbook Commission of Historians and Geographers.
He is the author of the following monographs:
- Europejska droga. Partnerstwo Bremy i Gdańska (The European Path: The Partnership between Bremen and Gdańsk), European Solidarity Centre, Gdańsk 2017;
- Ponad żelazną kurtyną. Kontakty społeczne między PRL i RFN w okresie détente i stanu wojennego (Beyond the Iron Curtain: Social Contacts between the Polish People’s Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany during Détente and Martial Law), Institute of National Remembrance, Warsaw 2016;
- Brücken nach Osten. Helmut Schmidt und Polen (Bridges to the East: Helmut Schmidt and Poland), Edition Temmen, Bremen 2011.
In addition, he has published numerous scholarly articles on Polish-German relations, the history of Poland, cultural transfer, and textbook research.
He also collaborated on the Polish-German joint history textbook project Europa. Nasza historia / Europa. Unsere Geschichte (Volumes 1-4, WSiP/Eduversum, 2016-2020).
