Research Objectives and Areas

The consequences of the widespread adoption of advanced computational tools affect all major spheres of human life.

The members of the Laboratory aim to conduct research on the political and social context of processes related to the digitalisation of the economy and public administration at various levels of impact, including legal aspects. In particular, the Laboratory focuses on research into the socio-political sphere shaped by ongoing digitalisation processes. The innovative character of this research stems from the growing role of contemporary technologies in the transforming socio-political reality, driven by the development of new solutions such as blockchain, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence.

The research is centred on advancing digitalisation processes that directly affect specific dimensions of public life-ranging from political participation, entrepreneurship-related solutions, and electronic public administration, to the automation of work processes. Particular attention is devoted to state policies addressing these developments in different countries as well as at the European Union level, including the design of appropriate legal frameworks and other governance-related responses to digitalisation.

From an institutional perspective, the research focuses on the functioning of both economic actors and public administration entities that make use of the contemporary digital revolution, especially through data-driven governance.
